On the first date Jill knew she would marry the man that became her husband. By the end of the honeymoon she was sure the marriage wouldn’t last. What she didn’t know was how her decision to stay married would affect her children.
The communication failure which crippled her marriage plagued the former partners in their separate lives. Decisions concerning child custody were exacerbated by anger and mistrust. After years of joint custody Jill’s former husband abruptly petitioned the court for sole custody of their three daughters, and won. The arrangement they had all grown accustomed to was shattered.
After an exhaustive custody battle the family was catapulted into the emotional quagmire of Parental Alienation Syndrome -- the programming or brainwashing of a child (children) by one parent to denigrate the other, and/or when a parent emotionally manipulates children to either maintain or strengthen the relationship between them by excluding the other parent.
Jill and her three daughters were separated for more than eight years. Despite abject rejection, she believed that her children continued to love her, and never gave up on restoring their relationship.
Today Jill and her daughters are reunited.
